This is the landmark of Chianti area

A fascinating, impressive and varied landscape, rich in contrasts: the lush green of chestnut trees, the silver of the olive groves, the bright and clear colours of the individual, somewhat remote old stone houses are contrasting with the straight green lines of the vineyards.

Distinctive vineyards and olive groves – the landmark of the Chianti area.
Set in this spectacular landscape lies the estate L’Ottavo. Rural stone buildings, preserved in the original style of Tuscany, have been converted by the Tramonti family to individual, self-contained apartments, adapted to suit the modern, discerning tourist, but without losing the original look and character of the buildings.

The estate L’Ottavo is situated in Lucolena, part of the municipality of Greve in Chianti, at an altitude of 400m. Ideal for those who want to experience nature, crave for tranquillity, for those who want to spend the day between a dip in the pool, a sunbath on the lawn or terrace, a walk in the surrounding forests, or a casual stroll through one of the many antique villages – to discover the many traces of the history and art of Tuscany.

L’Ottavo lies in the midst of the golden cultural triangle of Florence (35km), Siena (40km) and Arezzo (40km). Because of this ideal situation you cannot only reach those art centres quickly and easily, but also many other very attractive towns in Tuscany, like San Gimignano, Volterra, Lucca, Pisa, etc.

A typical Tuscan wine cellar made of stone

Our antique wine cellar with its stone walls, which was completely restored during the year 2003, is a typical Tuscan wine cellar, which offers the best conditions for the natural aging of our wines.
Together with the stainless steel barrels, used for the first part of the wine making process, which is accomplished by the most modern methods, one can also admire the typical wooden oak casks in which our wines are aged and refined for a period of 12 to 24 months

Wine tasting and direct selling. Upon request we organize for groups tastings of wine and olive oil, in addition to cellar visit.

The Vendita Diretta is regularly open every day starting with April for tastings and purchases, 10.30 am – 12.00 and 15:30 pm – 17:30 pm.

The products of the earth

WINE

Our winery is situated in the area of Chianti Classico and produces an outstanding olive oil and a wine which proudly boasts the label “D.O.C.G. Chianti Classico”
The area of Lucolena has been producing excellent wines for many centuries, which is also confirmed in a poem by Michele di Lando, entitled “ In lode del vino di Lucolena”, dedicated to one of the Medici princes.
The cultivation of the vineyards is mainly based on the Sangiovese grape, which has been grown in this area for centuries, and makes up the largest portion of the production. Other types of grapes used are Canaiolo, Malvasia nera e Trebbiano, but only in small quantities.
Red wines and Reserva wines of Fattoria L’Ottavo are still made according to the century-old tradition.

OLIVE OIL

From our olive groves we get an oil of very good quality: the acidity is less than 0.5 and makes this product an ideal ingredient for refined dishes. The color, which tends to green, is a valuable feature, the taste remains unchanged for months and thus ensures a long use. The oil does not like direct light and no heat. Olive oil is best stored well closed in a dark and cool place (10 to 16 ° C). Some oil components are susceptible to oxidation by atmospheric oxygen. Therefore, you should always seal your olive oil bottle well. Even UV light, for example due to direct sunlight, promotes these aging processes in the oil. The approximate shelf life of olive oil in cool, light-protected and air-protected storage can be several years We have olive oil bottles and cans in various sizes 125 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 1 liter, 3 liters, 5 liters and 10 liters.
